Wue’s Young Stars of the Frances and Gaskin Orphanage Home on Thursday, July 12, 2012 won the Golden Image Award (GIA) 2012 culture competition.
The Golden Image Award 2012 culture competition was held at the Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP) Village on the Capitol Bye-Pass in Monrovia. It was organized by the LCP with partnership from the Government of Liberia (GOL) and proudly sponsored by Lone Star Cell MTN.
Speaking at the program, the Executive Director of the LCP, Madam Juli Endee, said GIA is a national distinction and unique to Liberia, noting everyone must take hold of it. According to Madam Endee, the GIA will exercise a clear and participatory concert in line with the national development agenda here.
She noted that the award brings together stakeholders in the culture industry to discuss and find a way forward for the development of Liberian culture. Hear the LCP boss: “The Golden Image Award is a vision of one woman and it has been taken over by every Liberian. I am proud that this idea is being accepted by our country.”
Madam Endee, who is also the Culture Ambassador of Liberia, said the award is in honor of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who, according to her, has brought pride and dignity to the people of Liberia and the African continent.
“Without fear or favor, I want clearly say here that the award is in honor of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who has put Liberia and Africa on the map. President Johnson-Sirleaf is an icon of peace, and so everyone must emulate her good examples” she, amongst other things, pointed out.
