Musa Bility challenges dismissed LAA Boss

The Board Chairman of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), Mr. Musa Bility,  has  thrown out a challenge to  the dismissed Managing Director of the LAA, Ms Ellen Corkrum,  to provide evidence  implicating him(Bility) to financial impropriety at the LAA.

Mr. Bility said  Ms  Corkrum and one Mr. Melvin Johnson  held a press conference in Monrovia last week. During that Press Conference, Mr. Bility said they made a series of allegations that, in some instances, bordered on rumors, slander, libel, and defamation of character and in other instances, pure speculations.

But the LAA Board Chairman made it clear that he holds nothing personal against Ms Corkrum, saying: “if she claims to have evidence implicating him in any wrongdoing, I invite her to submit that evidence to the appropriate Authority for investigation and action.”

Mr. Bility among other things added: “As we speak, the Board has already commissioned an independent audit for the period between September 2012 and January 2013. At the same time, the LAA has been engaged by the GAC for an audit for the period between 2006 and 2012.” His comments were contained in a press statement  he delivered.Dismissed LAA Managing Director Ellen Corkrum

It could be recalled that on January 28, 2013,  the LAA Board  terminated the services of Ms Corkrum. The LAA Board’s action was occasioned by a resolution by a unanimous vote of the assembled quorum during its January 28, 2013 meeting. The Board averred that Ms. Corkrum was dismissed because she supposedly breached her duties and obligations to the LAA in sharp contravention of her terms of reference. But Ms Corkrum is quoted by a newspaper as saying that she has done nothing wrong in the execution of her duties at the LAA.
