Following the tragic plane crash which claimed the lives of the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Guinea, and other high ranking officers of the Guinean military, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has sent a message of condolence to the Sisterly Republic of Guinea as the country mourns the loss of its fallen officers.
In the message to Guinean President Alpha Conde, President Sirleaf extended, on behalf of Liberia, heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of Guinea, and particularly the bereaved families as they go through this period of national mourning.
“I extend to you and through Your Excellency to the Government and People of the Republic of Guinea, especially the bereaved families, heartfelt condolences as you go through this period of national mourning”, President Sirleaf remarked in her message.
In a show of its grief and in honor of the gallant and distinguished fallen officers and flight crew, the Government of Liberia issued a Proclamation declaring Tuesday, February 12, 2013 a day of national mourning across the Republic in memories of those who lost their lives in the deadly plane crash near Monrovia on Monday, February 11, 2013.
General Souleymane Kelefa Diallo, the Chief of General Staff of the Guinean Army and other occupants were onboard.
